The world of Twig is filled with unusual places and characters. This graphic novel features no humans, and all the characters are unique creatures living in unrecognizable worlds. Twig is a sweet, kindhearted, fuzzy character who struggles with self-doubt and responsibility. His design is reminiscent of Stitch from Disney’s Lilo and Stitch. The creatures who aid or attack him could be made from the minds of the Jim Henson’s Workshop staff. While exotic, the character design is similar to familiar forms. They include a living mountain, a sassy slug, a creepy molerat-faced hunter, and a cute, pink rhinoceros.

The artwork is filled with cotton candy colors. The characters look dimensional like puppets. The panels are filled with action, silly faces, and quirky angles.

The graphic novel, Twig, covers five issues of the comics and presents a complete story. This book is a great addition for fantasy lovers.
