Who is that lady with the mechanical limbs kicking demon butt?

Well, she would like to know too. As Lady Mechanika searches for answers to her past, she becomes entangled in a scientist’s strange and dangerous schemes. She hunts demons, and she endeavors to save a young woman from an intense transformation. Lady Mechanika Volume One: The Mystery of the Mechanical Corpse collects the first five issues, and while the graphic novel has a complete storyline, there is enough of a cliffhanger to guide readers to the next volume.

Lady Mechanika Volume One is a steampunk classic. Steampunk is a genre that uses technology based on steam power, clockwork mechanisms, and sometimes magic in ways similar to modern technology. For example, while Lady Mechcanika’s metal arm can function as a real arm and a weapon like the metal arm Bucky Barnes uses in Marvel Comics, the appearance is bronze with visible gears.

Steampunk is also set in a world similar to the 19th century, and the costumes pull readers into this alternative world. Visually, this graphic novel appears like a blend of the movies Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes and the Underworld series. The alternative covers at the end are a cosplayer’s delight with their fashion focus.

Lady Mechanika Volume One: The Mystery of the Mechanical Corpse follows a gothic plot line with a few surprises. This graphic novel is brimming with strong female characters – dangerous and heroic. Readers are pulled into the action with very strong world building. There is some cursing and gruesome imagery.

For fans of video games such as Devil May Cry, The Witcher, and Bayonetta and graphic novels like the Infernal Devices trilogy and Darryl Openworld.

Stock your shelf in time for Halloween with this devilish delight.
