Sera and the Royal Stars Volume 1

Published by: Vault Comics
Written by: Jon Tsuei
Illustrated by: Audrey Mok
ISBN: 9781939424570
Ages: 10+

When we look up into the night sky and see the stars in their constellations, some of their shapes and names are known to us. But what if each of those stars was actually a deity, complete with powers and stories of their own?

Sera, Princess of the Kingdom of Parsa, leads her troops against rebels. In the middle of the battle, she has a vision: The Goddess Mitra gives Sera a calling; she must free the Royal Stars, physical embodiments of deities that make up the constellations, from their captivity here in the physical realm. Their imprisonment has caused the seasons to stop, and everything is being affected. Wanting to focus on protecting her Kingdom, Sera refuses, but is told the quest is mandatory or the world will die. To help her, Mitra removes her heart and replaces it with a gem that embodies the power and spirit of Regulus, Lord of the Sky.

And so her quest begins…

Opposing her, the twin Stars of Draco, Regulus and Eltanin, who use their evil magical powers to awaken wyverns and dragon-like troops.

Will Sera be able to find the Royal Stars in time?

Jon Tsuei (RUN LOVE KILL) brings us a tale that feels familiar, yet contains enough mysticism and charm to keep the attention of any reader. Audrey Mok (ARCHIE, JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS) uses her illustrations to captive the reader with color and action. While the threat of the story seems dire, this series is appropriate for school-age children with a love of adventure, myth and fairy tale.

Recommend.
