Hollywood Trash

Published by: Mad Cave
Written by: Stephen Sonneveld
Illustrated by: Pablo Verdugo
ISBN: 9781952303081
Ages: Teen

Stephen Sonneveld and Pablo Verdugo deliver a humorous, satirical tale of Hollywood excess in an incredibly accessible manner. Hollywood Trash collects issues 1-5 completing a story arc that follows James and Billy through probably the most exciting shift as a garbage collectors ever committed to paper.

The story opens on Billy, new to the sanitation game, and James, a seasoned professional going about their business, collecting garbage in exclusive neighborhoods. Little do either of the protagonists know, James has done something to upset one of the most powerful individuals in Hollywood and today they aim to enact their revenge. The men find themselves fighting robots and even forest fires, amongst other things – in a single days work.

If you are in the mood for some Grade A ridiculousness and pointed satire that features hilarious hijinks, then this is the story for you. Teenage to adult readers will enjoy this easy and quick read.

I am an undergraduate research and instruction librarian at Brenau University working primarily with students transitioning from high school into university.

My interest in all things graphic storytelling began at a young age when my mom used to buy Family Circle and Dennis the Menace collections. I devoured them and especially loved the ones that had the flip-book bonus on the bottom pages! It was love at first flip; ever since then, I have been hooked.
