In 1980s Miami, four teenagers hatch a plan to steal from the richest and most dangerous gangster in town. Mariana, Angel, Diego, and Fabian are the best of friends, and know they can count on each other. But Diego’s plan to rob the drug kingpin leaves the other three more than a little nervous.
Considering there isn’t much of a future for them in Little Havana that doesn’t involve drugs or danger.. what else can they do? Dry Foot is a fast paced, gritty coming of age graphic novel about four teens trying to find a better life for themselves and their families. For being less than 100 pages, this graphic novel digs deep and can really tug at the reader’s heartstrings, seeing not only the life the kids have at home, but also their potential future, as well as the tragedies that creep up during their caper. The culture in Little Havana is very evident throughout the book, and the mix of Spanish and English adds a very nice touch. Add in beautiful illustrations, carefully crafted action scenes, and brightly colored pages, and this graphic novel is sure to be a real winner.
