Written & Illustrated by: Tillie Walden

Publisher: Image Comics

Format: Paperback, 256 pages, Black & White

ISBN: 9781534321281

Ages: 13 and up

Tillie Walden is an Eisner Award winning talent and her spin on The Walking Dead universe provides a hauntingly real view of the strife in a world filled with walkers. Clementine is the newest addition to The Walking Dead catalog and introduces readers to a teen named Clementine, who has suffered many tragedies since the outbreak began, including losing half of a leg. She has been on her own for quite some time, until the day she meets Amos, an Amish boy with big dreams. The two travel to Vermont, to an area where Amos believes life will be better. However, once they arrive they are met by two odd, nameless twins who give off a bad vibe. The newly formed group struggles to survive and in the process discovers that the walkers are not the only thing they need to worry about.

Clementine is a fresh take on Robert Kirkman’s, The Walking Dead. Walden uses her expert storytelling skills both with written word and with visuals to teleport readers into the story. The emotions throughout are raw and very Waldenesque. This book is a must read for any fan of The Walking Dead and works as a great introduction for those new to the series. Clementine is sure to compliment any library’s collection of The Walking Dead and if your library hasn’t started collecting it, this book is a great start!
