Graphic Novel Review: The Fairy Universe

Ages:16+

Fairies are such a unique creature in the realm of fantasy. We could talk about archetype used in gaming (like Dungeons and Dragons), that are known as a magical being of the Fae, resembling a small winged elf-like creature. We could also discuss their importance to mythology and connection to religion, being ethereal and otherworldly. Then again, we could talk about the beloved Disney character Tinkerbell, companion to Peter Pan and adventurer in her own right, whose image can be seen every Halloween night.

So much more of a collection of art, as opposed to the more typical definition of a graphic novel, THE FAIRY UNIVERSE contains many very detailed and elaborate drawings. Short diary-like entries accompany them, but the focus will always be on the tiniest details in the drawings. French comic book artist Olivier Ledroit (BLACK MOON CHRONICLES, MIGHT AND MAGIC) and others bring the magic to the page.

With THE FAIRY UNIVERSE being closer to the fantasy aspect of them, there are plenty of references to their more mischievous activities, as well as nudity, though it is approached from an artistic aspect. Ages 16+
