Most of us have been to a “haunted” house or seen/held a “cursed” item. The existence and proof of the supernatural is a constant pursuit for some. Overall, I believe that there are supernatural elements to the world we live in, but few of us will ever have “an experience”, especially not like what our main characters here in THE DARKNESS WE BROUGHT BACK did…

Daniel and his friend Emily head out one night to check out the “cursed house” on the edge of town. Unfortunately, two local bullies are there with their girlfriends to use it as a makeout spot. Tempers flare, and ultimately all 6 of them take the dare and step through the doorway to the house. Huge Mistake…

After some time, all the high schoolers return back through the door, but are changed radically from their experiences in the individual nightmarish realms. Eventually manifesting powers and abilities, these friends will have to work together to stop an evil they brought back with them…

Reminiscent of Stranger Things, or at least catering to fans of that type of story, THE DARKNESS WE BROUGHT BACK, is brought to us by authors Rex Ogle (PUNCHING BAG, THE SUPERNATURAL SOCIETY) and Alex Segura (SECRET IDENTITY, THE BLACK GHOST). This horror/superhero/mystery will have readers asking what they would endure to get powers and abilities. I’d love to see a sequel to this, as it felt much like an origin story for the characters.
