PORCELAIN

Ages: 15+

“Sometimes… the risky option is the only one possible.

The only one that really means choosing…”

Beryl lives in the desert with her Aunt. Life flows slowly and passes unremarkably for the teen. Someday, she will move to the city and learn a trade as part of a Guild, but for now, going to get water is about as thrilling as it gets.

Walking back home during one such journey, Beryl sees something new. A building looking as if out of a sideshow, displays “Dollhouse” on the outside, and before she knows it, Beryl has entered a very creepy house full of mannequins, marionettes, and porcelain dolls. Taking a path, she meets both Valentina, a wicked doll that wishes to change Beryl to be like them, and Axel, a boy who is trying to find his way out of this nightmarish funhouse.

Can she escape? Will she ever get home?

Maria Llovet (EROS/PSYCHE, HEARTBEAT, LUNA) brings another tale that is very much her style. Any readers of the author’s previous works will be able to identify this by visuals alone. The story would make an excellent addition to horror anthologies like Creepshow or Black Mirror.

For ages 15+
