Graphic Novel Review: Phantom on the Scan

Posted on April 11, 2022April 11, 2022

Published by: Aftershock Comics
Written by: Cullen Bunn
Illustrated by: Mark Torres
ISBN: 9781949028805
Ages: 18+

Matthew isn’t like ordinary people. Ever since a comet hit the Earth twenty years ago, he has been haunted by the ghost of a young boy. This boy grants him extraordinary psychic abilities, but they come with a cost. Every time he uses them, he gets closer to death.

He isn’t the only one however. More psychics, all created on that same night, are dying in terrible ways. For Jessica, Ben, Aston and Jerold, Matthew might be their only hope for life and salvation.

Will they be killed by the overwhelming nature of their powers, or will Vic, an assassin, take them out?

And what exactly happened when the comet struck down?

Originally created by author Cullen Bunn as a one-shot tabletop RPG, PHANTOM ON THE SCAN allows the author to flex his creative muscle, giving another independent title worthy to join the others in his catalog. Gritty and adult, this one is 18 and up.
