OZ: Heart of Magic

Published by: Zenescope
Written by: Terry Kavanagh
Illustrated by: Marcelo Mueller
ISBN: 9781951087043
Ages: 13+

OZ: HEART OF MAGIC, the latest in the Oz Series from Zenescope, continues to bring new life and depth to the universe originally conceived of by L. Frank Baum. Presented in true Zenescope fashion, these are not your grandmother’s Oz books, but they do appeal to those fans who enjoy the current landscape and art styles of modern comics.

Picking up after the events of OZ: THE WIZARD, we find our heroine Dorothy on the run, despite being the current Empress of the Northern Lands of Oz. The Wizard, much more evil than in the original series, has put Dorothy’s spirit in a different body and exiled her, taking her place magically disguised as Dorothy herself. Our heroine is not without friends though: Toto (who now is a giant white wolf), some soldiers and sorceresses, a family of Lion-folk, and a quirky and hilarious robot. Searching for the Dragoon Horn to assist them on their quest south to find Glinda, Dorothy will be met with many intense challenges, but still never give up.

Back in Emerald City, with the Scarecrow (named Bartleby) acting as an assistant, “Dorothy” (really The Wizard) has begun the mining and renovation of the city, obviously searching for something. What could it be? Something powerful and mystical in nature, increasing his power?

From author Terry Kavanagh (X-MEN: RISE OF APOCALYPSE, GRIMM FAIRY TALES) and the art of Marcelo Mueller (GRIMM FAIRY TALES, LADY DEATH) comes a chapter in an ongoing saga that will remind you of your childhood, but also an epic fantasy roller coaster ride that will have you scrambling for more. Ages 13+
