How safe is too safe?
Monolith is the safest car ever created. Designed to keep a family safe no matter what, this car can survive almost anything. Carl, who bought the car for his family, is the reason his wife and child are not safe. Emotionally abusive and controlling, Carl is determined to keep Sandra and David safe from the outside world.
Starting a fight and taking her rickety car and the kid, Sandra escapes the abusive home and heads off to visit with family. Carl tries to understand, but chases them down and offers the Monolith under the guise of safety. When Sandra takes it, but shuts down all the tracking, she thinks that she will finally be able to escape.
What will she do when she is locked out of the car in the middle of the desert, with her toddler son still inside? Since she can’t break in, the only thing that starts to break is her mind…
Roberto Recchioni (DYLAN DOG) is an Italian cartoonist and writer who has gotten very lucky already with MONOLITH, as it has been optioned for film and is going through early development. Reminiscent of several psychological thriller films, this story will do amazing on the screen. In the meanwhile, the beautiful art of LRNZ, as depicted in this graphic novel will have to hold you over.
Very strongly recommended. An excellent cautionary tale and psychological thriller. 15+
