Graphic Novel Review: Fine Print Vol. 1

Posted on April 11, 2022April 11, 2022

ISBN: 9781534320703
Ages: 18+

Meet Merryl Alaris. Strong, confident, female bookstore owner who always seems to know exactly what her patrons need. As we watch her work, we catch glimpses of something, possibly magical, under the surface. Only when a young woman named Rachel enters the store and questions Merryl about her appearance, is the real magic revealed. Merryl is a succubus, and the fact that Rachel can see her fully manifested means the offer of a deal is coming.

Matthew and Lauren used to be an adorable couple, but they broke up after his professional photographs of her made her too popular and famous as a model. When Lauren realizes her mistake, years later, it’s too late, as Matthew has gotten engaged to another woman. Could that situation change when Lauren meets Merryl, who is now a bartender at a BDSM club?

Added to the mix of all this human turmoil is the chaos of Merryl’s species, the Cubi. Succubi and incubi debate to see who will be the next High Caller, a leadership role in their society. And where do the Cupid stand in all this? When beings who thrive on lust meet beings who thrive on love, sparks will fly, in more ways than one.

The delicate balance of FINE PRINT VOLUME 1 could really only be the creation of Stjepan Šejić (SUNSTONE, HARLEEN), who excels as both writer and illustrator. Part of his SUNSTONE universe (along with Matt Hawkins’ SUGAR and SWING), Šejić brings graphic adult content to the world of comics so flawlessly that it seems natural and authentic. His characters seem so real, drawing us deeper into his world, until we are so invested, we can’t possibly leave. A genuine master in his corner of the comics world.

Adults only (18+), as this graphic novel checks every box for “adult content”.
