Graphic Novel Review: Crueler Than Dead Vol. 2

Posted on May 19, 2022May 19, 2022

Published by: Ablaze Manga
Written by: Tsukasa Saimura
Illustrated by: Kozo Takahashi
ISBN: 9788822611062
Ages:

Maki Agaki, our heroine from the first Volume, continues her journey to Tokyo Dome with the young boy Shota, impulsive Miura, and criminal Yugo. Bringing a vaccine to counteract the zombie curse that has overtaken the world, she expected to be welcomed with open arms. But the world has changed so much… or has it?

The upper class have much and the lower class is fighting to survive. There are ballrooms and suites, but also orphans, slums, and junkies. Small hopes arise: Shota’s dad is found and new babies are being born, but there are also food shortages, new terrorist groups, and the original threat of zombies to deal with.

Can the vaccine save many? Or is this all a never ending nightmare? How will Maki’s powers (and Shota’s developing ones) help or hinder inside Tokyo Dome?

Tsukasa Saimura (HOUR OF THE ZOMBIE, TOKYO UNDEAD) brings his fascination with zombies to this sequel, providing another excellent story to the genre. Graphic violence and intense situations make this a book for 18 and up.
