“I’m not a criminal… I’m just a guy who makes really good chicken!”
Mitch is much like your average family man. Wife, two kids, family issues, owns a business.
That business is a very successful small chain of fast food restaurants called “Mitch’s Hot Chicken”, and has a business partner, Antonio. On the surface, you might call it normal, plain, or boring… definitely mostly uneventful.
All that changes, when Antonio informs Mitch that the deal he made with some Eastern European gangsters over hiding heroin in buckets of chicken has gone south, due to a faulty fryer starting a fire last night. Before he even has time to process this, the mob shows up demanding payment very soon or their families will pay with their lives. Overreacting to this news, Mitch grabs his family and gets them on a boat, determined to let them get away before they can be harmed…
… then the boat explodes.
Two days later, disguising himself in a chicken mascot costume under store bought vigilante body armor, “Chicken Devil” begins a campaign of revenge against the gangsters that killed his family.
Sounds similar to a story you’ve heard before? Sure.
But Mitch is such a klutz and is basing his actions on movies and shows he’s seen before.
Imagine a story like NOBODY or TAKEN… but the only skills Mitch has is making great chicken.
I had an absolute blast reading this first Volume of CHICKEN DEVIL. The twists and turns in the story, which I am not telling here, are both jaw dropping and hilarious.
Author Brian Buccellato (INJUSTICE, SONS OF THE DEVIL) said this about his new story:
“What you’re holding in your hands is the most ME comic I’ve ever written. And even if I didn’t write what I know… I DID write what would probably happen is my very particular set of skills were applied to taking on the Eastern European mob.”
You should definitely pick this one up.
