The trope of a knight rescuing a Princess is one often told in fantasy stories. Few are as well done as DARKLY SHE GOES. This was epic in every sense of the word.
Arzhur is a knight fallen from favor. Wasting his life lamenting over drink and doing the occasional mercenary job, he can’t even go home to his family. One night over a fire, sobering up from earlier in the day, 3 old crones approach and offer this knight a way back into good graces. Rescue a Princess from a tower and bring her back to her father. Simple enough? (We know it’s not going to be…)
Islen is an enigma of a Princess. Surrounded by monsters and critters in the Black Tower, she seems at first glance to be in need of saving… so why aren’t the monsters attacking her? Perhaps the crones, who keep whispering “release your true power” give us a clue.
These two lives will collide and both they and the kingdoms they live in, will never be the same.
Originally published as Ténébreuse in France, author Vincent Mallié brings us DARKLY SHE GOES, a twisted fairy tale that is deliciously dark. Readers will enjoy with art style, including some from Hubert, an artist I have enjoyed before. The tone and violence/nudity make this book appropriate for 16+, but fans of fairy tale and fantasy should definitely check this out.
