The Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards have announced the jury of comics professionals that will be participating in the nomination process for the 2018 awards. The jury will participate in the nomination process, which includes selecting favorite works in over 20 categories.
The jury consists of Michael Cavna, a cartoonist and the creator of The Washington Post’s Eisner-nominated Comic Riffs column; Marty Grosser, editor of Diamond Comic Distributors’ PREVIEWS catalog; Karla Marsh-Southern, the Event and Exhibitor Coordinator for the Heroes Convention and Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find; Rob Stull, an accomplished artist and writer for books including Spider-Man Adventures, Nightwing, Firestorm, and many more; and Gus Vazquez, an illustrator on dozens of titles including X-Force, Deadpool, The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and others.
Categories for the Ringos this year include Best Cartoonist, Best Writer, Best Inker, Best Artist or Penciller, Best Letterer, Best Colorist, Best Cover Artist, Best Series, Best Single Issue or Story, Best Original Graphic Novel, Best Anthology, Best Humor Comic, Best Comic Strip or Panel, Best Webcomic, Best Non-fiction Comic Work, Best Kids Comic or Graphic Novel, and Best Presentation in Design. There are also jury-only nominations, fan-only favorite categories, and the Hero Initiative categories.
The Ringo Awards will be presented on Saturday, September 29, 2018, as part of the Baltimore Comic-Con.
